RAWALPINDI: All private and public schools in the garrison city are set to organise summer camps from Monday. The camps will run daily from 7am to 10am and continue until June 30.
In May, the Punjab government announced summer vacations from May 22 to August 23. However, private schools stated that they will not be able to complete the curriculum due to the three-month-long vacations.
The government then allowed the holding of summer camps in public and private schools.
Talking to Dawn, District Education Authority Chief Executive Officer Yaseen Khan Baloch said the government had allowed all private and public schools to start summer camps during summer vacations.
He said the District Education Authority had been directed to ensure that no students were called to schools without prior permission from parents.
“Timings will be 7am to 10am and school managements will not force students to attend the summer camps,” he said.
He said the summer camps would only be conducted from Monday to Thursday, while Friday will be off. He said that the summer camps were allowed for all classes.
“No extra or additional fee will be charged by the private schools for summer camps and no tuition fee will be charged by the government schools or teachers,” he said.
He said that the education authority had asked all school administrations to ensure that all activities or classes were conducted in classrooms or indoor.
He said that the school administrations would ensure availability of basic essential amenities like cleanliness, clean and cold drinking water, fans, seating arrangements, and electricity back-up in case of loadshedding.
“No school will force students to wear uniform and they will come in summer camps in weather-friendly clothing,” he said.
Teams have been formed to check whether schools implemented the instructions issued by the Punjab government or not and in case of violation, the schools will be closed and fines will be imposed on them, he added.
