LAHORE: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Lahore has constituted a five-member local bodies ticket board to oversee candidate selection, organisational consultation, and the issuance of party tickets ahead of the Local Government Elections 2026.
According to an official notification issued by PPP Lahore General Secretary Dr Ayesha Shaukat, the board comprises Faisal Mir, Dr Ayesha Shaukat, Majeed Ghauri, Shahid Abbas and Aamir Nasir Butt.
It states that in the first phase, the board will establish Organisational and ticket councils across Lahore’s ten towns. Each council will include representatives from the respective town zones, union councils, and various party wings. The president of each town will serve as chairman of the relevant council, while the concerned general secretary will act as chief coordinator.
In the second phase, the board will begin receiving candidate recommendations from these councils, covering approximately 6,000 PPP local government hopefuls across the ten towns.
PPP Lahore’s leadership will tour the city’s 30 zones between June 2 and June 7, 2026. During these visits, notifications for approximately 450 zonal office-bearers will be issued, and the organisational and ticket councils for all ten towns will be formally announced.
From June 10, the board will begin accepting applications from political leaders, workers, and aspirants seeking PPP tickets to contest the local government elections.
Coinciding with the birth anniversary of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, the board will announce its first list of local government candidates on June 21, 2026. Subsequent announcements will follow on a phased basis every Sunday until the official election schedule is released.
