TOBA TEK SINGH: Two alleged robbers have been killed and as many others were arrested in injured condition in separate encounters with the police and the Crime Control Department (CCD).
Police claimed that in the first encounter, a CCD patrolling team stopped two suspects riding a motorcycle near the railway station but they opened fire, which was also retaliated. Police claimed that when the firing stopped, they found one suspect injured by the firing of his fleeing accomplice.
Police further claimed that he succumbed to his injuries and was identified as Irshad alias Lattu Baloch of Chak 216 JB Madhani Jatwala. He was found involved in several robberies and thefts.
In another encounter near the Textile Mills Chowk on Maddoki Road, police claimed a CCD team signalled two suspects to stop but they opened fire. Policemen also returned fire and when the firing stopped, police claimed to have found suspect Muhammad Nadeem Jhaisal of Haveli Bahadar Shah dead.
He received bullets fired by his accomplice who managed to escape, police claimed. Police further claimed that he was involved in several dacoity cases.
Meanwhile, an alleged robber was arrested in injured condition after an encounter with the Faisalabad Sargodha Road Police. According to the police, a police team led by ASI Amer Rafiq had set up a picket on Sargodha Road when the team confronted three suspects on a motorcycle. Police claimed that they opened fire on the policemen, which was returned.
Police claimed the suspects fled towards the Noorpur graveyard and additional police force was called after which another exchange of fire occurred. When the firing stopped, one suspect was found injured, who was also hit by his accomplices who had run away. He was shifted to the Allied Hospital. He was identified as Muhammad Faryad of Green Town and was found involved in 15 robberies.
Another encounter occurred in Faisalabad between a Lyallpur Town CCD team and alleged robbers. Police claimed that CCD in charge Hassan Siddiq Cheema was present on the Chohla Chowk along with his team when four suspects on two bikes were signalled to stop. Police claimed that they opened fire on the team, which was also retaliated.
Police claimed that when the guns went silent, police found one suspect injured by his accomplices, who had fled the scene. He was shifted to the Allied Hospital. He was identified as Bilal Haider of Toba Tek Singh and he had a record of 15 robberies.
