ATA case against six for firing inside hospital

TOBA TEK SINGH: Samanabad Police in Faisalabad arrested two suspects after registering a case against them and four of their accomplices under Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA) for allegedly creating panic and opening indiscriminate fire inside government general hospital.

According to the first information report (FIR) lodged by Medical Superintendent Dr Shahbaz Ahmad, the incident occurred following a clash between two rival groups at Chak 230 RB Chohla. The injured members of the Khalid Ali group were being treated in the emergency ward when suspects belonging to the opposing group, identified as Mujahid, Shahid, and their accomplices, allegedly stormed the hospital and opened fire.

The FIR further stated that patients, hospital staff and other citizens present at the scene saved their lives by lying on the ground in panic. No casualties were reported inside the hospital. Police later conducted raids and arrested two suspects, while efforts are underway to apprehend others.

In a separate incident, Airport Police Faisalabad arrested three suspects, Mushtaq, Irfan, and Shahid Ali, for torturing a man, Rizwan and forcibly shaving his head.
