Six suspects arrested after receiving injuries in ‘encounters’

BAHAWALPUR/SAHIWAL/TOBA TEK SINGH: In various districts of Punjab, the Crime Control Department (CCD) and police arrested six suspects in an injured condition after alleged encounters on Monday. Strangely, they were all injured by firing of their own accomplices who always escaped miraculously.

In Bahawalpur, the CCD arrested two suspects in an injured condition after an encounter near Noor De Goth in the suburbs of the city.

According to officials, a CCD team deployed near a mango orchard spotted three suspects on a motorcycle. When they were signaled, the suspects allegedly opened fire on the CCD team members, who also retaliated.

The motorcyclists, in a state of confusion, attempted to flee but rammed into an electricity pole and fell down. During the firing, one Mulazim Hussain of the CCD team wearing a bulletproof vest survived. One suspect fled from the scene while two fell and were injured with the firing of their own fleeing accomplice. The injured were identified as Shehzad and Shahid from whose possession a motorcycle snatched from the Civil Lines Police Station area was also recovered. They were admitted to hospital.

The CCD Police Station, Bahawalpur, registered an FIR and traced six theft cases against the arrested suspects and their fleeing accomplice.

In Pakpattan and Sahiwal areas, three suspects were injured while five of their accomplices managed to escape in separate incidents during the last 24 hours.

According to the police story, Inspector Waqas Ahmed of Kaboola Police and his team were on routine patrol near Chak 43/EB when they noticed two men on a motorcycle carrying two goats.

Police signaled them to stop but the suspects opened fire on the police mobile van. The cops took cover and retaliated with crossfire continuing for about 15 minutes.

When firing stopped, police found one suspect injured while his companion fled. The injured suspect was identified as Noman , a resident of Amjad Colony, Kaboola.

Police recovered two goats, a 30-bore pistol, a motorcycle, bullets, mobile phones from the scene. Noman confessed that the goats had been stolen from Chak 35/EB.

The injured outlaw was shifted to DHQ Hospital Pakpattan for treatment and a case was registered on the complaint of SHO Waqas Ahmed.

In the second incident, Bahadur Shah Police, Sahiwal, received a call on 15 reporting that three suspects had robbed a villager, snatched his motorcycle, cash and a mobile phone.

Acting on the information, police intercepted the fleeing suspects near Chak 57/5-L. The suspects opened fire on the police, prompting retaliation. The crossfire continued for 19 minutes after which police arrested an injured suspect, identified as Shahbaz, a resident of Muhammad Pur.

The police recovered the snatched motorcycle, mobile phones, and a 30-bore pistol. His two accomplices managed to escape. A case was registered under above PPC sections on the complaint of Inspector Ahmed Ali Tabusam of Bahadur Shah Police.

In the third incident, Yousafwala Police encountered three suspects near Chak 65/5-L. According to police, the dacoits opened fire on the mobile van without provocation. Police retaliated and later arrested an injured suspect, identified as Musadaq Hussain, a resident of Chak 53/5-L. A motorcycle and pistol were recovered from his possession while his two companions escaped. A case was registered.In Faisalabad, a suspected drug dealer has been arrested in an injured condition by Batala Colony Police.

Police spokesperson claimed that SHO Asif Nawaz Pannu along with a police party raided Siddiqia Graveyard near Raja Chowk to arrest drug peddlers where four suspects opened fire on policemen, leading to a crossfire. When the firing stopped, three suspects had managed to flee while one was found injured by their fired bullets. He was arrested and shifted to the DHQ Hospital. He was identified as Asif Raza of Sir Syed Town who was wanted by police in several drug smuggling cases.
