Over 40 street crime cases reported in 24 hours

RAWALPINDI: More than 40 cases of street crime were reported to the police in the last 24 hours.

One person was shot and injured, while cash, mobile phones, foreign currency and motorcycles were taken away by robbers, thieves and burglars from different parts of the city, police said.

Abdul Saboor, 30, a resident of Malik Colony Girja Road, was intercepted by two motorcycle riders in a street. The armed men tried to snatch his cellphone and cash. When he offered resistance, the robbers shot and injured him. He was shifted to Benazir Bhutto Hospital where he was stated to be in critical condition.

Danish Javed lodged an FIR with the Ratta Amral police saying that he and his friend were returning home when two armed men intercepted them and snatched a motorcycle, two cellphones along with documents.

Nauman Shehzad told the police that thieves entered his house in Arya Mohalla and stole Rs50,000, a wrist watch and other valuables.

Police said Rs200,000 and gold worth Rs236581 were stolen by thieves from a house in Dhoke Hassu. In another incidence, Dr Hifza Bibi’s cellphone was stolen while she was shopping in Commercial Market. Amir Sohail lost his laptop, a smart watch after burglars broke into his hostel room.

Farhan Taj, a resident of Sadiqabad, complained to the police that thieves stole four cellphones and ATM cards from his house.

Safiullah was robbed of Rs10,000 and a mobile phone by three armed men while he was on way to the mosque.

Asad Khan, resident of Muslimabad Pirwadhai, was robbed of Rs6000 and a cellphone by two robbers while Azan Bin Rahim was robbed of Rs100,000 and a mobile phone by two robbers in Sadiqabad.

Muhammad Afaq lodged a similar report with the Cantt police saying that two motorcycle riders snatched his cellphone. Noreen Akhtar lodged an FIR with the R.A. Bazaar police stating that her purse containing Rs16000 and a cellphone was stolen by a woman in a hospital.

Mushtaq Ahmad complained to the Airport police that he and his wife arrived at Islamabad International Airport by Emirates flight. He went into a washroom and put his bag outside. After returning, he found Euro 300 and a mobile phone stolen from the bag. 

Shahbaz Siraj Qureshi’s motorcycle was stolen from the Banni police area, Ikhlaq Ahmed’s motorcycle from Commercial Market Satellite Town, Ikhtisham Ijaz’s motorcycle from Dhoke Kala Khan and Mohammad Saad’s motorcycle from Rawat.

Adnan Afzal told the police that his motorcycle was stolen from outside his house in Kamalabad, while Raja Ali Jawad’s motorcycle was lifted from Chaklala Scheme III and while Mohammad Nasir’s bike was stolen from Railway Scheme 9.

Khuram Hanif complained to the police that he was robbed of his cellphone and cash by two motorcycle riders in Morgah area. Kashif Khan’s electric motor was stolen from Chaklala area, while Mohammad Asif was deprived of Rs140,000 by a thief. Moreover, Mohammad Firasat’s cellphone along with Rs3800 were stolen from his apartment, while Zeeshan Ali complained to the Airport police that Rs80,000 were stolen from his clinic.
