Asked about Iran and Oman negotiating to set up a framework to formally charge tolls in the Strait of Hormuz, US President Donald Trump says the country is “looking at it”.
“They’ve negotiated, they’ve had a relationship with them before,” he responds to reporters at the White House.
Trump reiterates his claim that the US maintains “total control” of the Strait of Hormuz through a naval blockade.
“We want it free; we don’t want tolls. It’s an international waterway,” he adds. “No ship is going to, or out of, Iran without our approval.”
