TEHERAN: A top Iranian official charged the United States today [May 20] with “unwarranted interference” in Iran’s affairs and warned Washington that it was pushing Iran towards Communism. He said Muslim clergy would declare Holy War against Britain unless [it] ceased “intimidations and threats”. Nothing would keep Iran from nationalising her oil industry, he declared. The official was Majlis member Hossein Makki, Secretary of the National Front and Oil Commission.
... The Oil Nationalisation Commission … [said] it had reached [a] decision on how the AIOC installations should be taken over and had submitted its report to the Government. A prominent member of the Commission said the plan would not affect flow of oil. — News agencies
