Over 3,200 sanitation workers to be deployed in Attock for Eidul Azha cleanliness drive

TAXILA: Managing Director of the Suthra Punjab Agency and Additional Deputy Commissioner General Attock Anil Saeed on Wednesday said all necessary arrangements had been finalised across the district to ensure cleanliness, timely disposal of sacrificial waste and provision of civic facilities to citizens during Eidul Azha.

He expressed these views while briefing media representatives regarding Eid arrangements at the DC Office Attock. Officials of the Suthra Punjab Agency were also present on the occasion.

Mr Saeed said a total of 3,234 sanitation workers would perform duties round the clock across the district during the Eid holidays, while 673 small and heavy machinery units would be utilised to maintain cleanliness and ensure swift disposal of sacrificial waste.

He added that more than 350,000 special waste bags would be distributed among citizens to facilitate safe disposal of animal remains and offal.

The official said a special helpline, 1139, had been established to facilitate citizens, address complaints and ensure immediate coordination during the Eid days.

In addition, district and tehsil-level control rooms had also been made operational for timely redressal of public complaints.

Highlighting additional arrangements, he said 51 collection points had been established across the district for gathering sacrificial hides and waste materials, including 45 temporary and six permanent collection points.

Mr Saeed emphasised that the role of the media was vital in creating public awareness and ensuring the success of the cleanliness campaign, adding that guidance and cooperation from media representatives would also be sought in this regard.

He reiterated that the district administration was utilising all available resources to provide a clean and healthy environment to citizens during Eidul Azha, while special instructions had already been issued to all relevant departments to ensure effective implementation of the sanitation plan.
