Multan museum goes public
LAHORE: The Punjab Department of Archaeology and Museums on Monday inaugurated the Multan Museum on the occasion of International Museum Day.
Constructed at a cost of Rs111.70 million over an area of 10 kanals, the museum was inaugurated by Punjab Archaeology Director General Zaheer Abbas Malik along with Multan Commissioner Amir Kareem Khan.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, the DG Mr Malik said the Multan Museum would serve as a major cultural and historical landmark for the region.
He noted that despite Multan’s centuries-old civilizational importance, South Punjab previously lacked a proper archaeological museum.
