TOBA TEK SINGH: The parking arrangements at the model cattle market at Niamoana in Faisalabad has been entrusted to the Faisalabad Parking Company (FPC) and only a fixed parking fee will be charged there.

Commissioner Mussrat Jabeen said that due to overcharging parking fees by private contractors earlier, this time the responsibility had been assigned to the FPC. During a visit to the cattle market, she directed FPC officials that traders should not face any disruption in the provision of facilities and they should not complain about overcharging. She claimed that there was no entry fee at temporary sale points in all four districts and excellent parking arrangements and fixed fees were being implemented.

She also checked the availability of medicines to protect sacrificial animals from rabies and Congo virus at the livestock camp. City AC Adil Umar also accompanied the commissioner during the visit.

Meanwhile in Toba, special cleanliness arrangements will be carried out around 979 mosques, imambargahs, and Eidgahs across the district.

Deputy commissioner Umar Mela said 21 slaughterhouses and designated collective sacrifice sites would remain functional, while special cleanliness drives would continue in 488 graveyards and 20 parks. He added that 170,000 waste bags had been distributed for the disposal of waste, while 37,300 kilograms of lime would be available for odor control and disinfection purposes.

He stated that four cattle markets were being established, while 107 awareness camps would also be established across the district. He said that 1,158 machinery units would be deployed for cleanliness and 3,580 sanitation workers and staff would perform duties in the district. He said that dumping sites and collection points would be washed daily and helpline 1139 had been established, where complaint resolution time had been reduced from 24 hours to just 2 hours during Eid days.

ENCOUNTERS: Two suspected robbers have been killed in encounters with the police in Faisalabad.

In the first incident, an alleged robber-cum-murderer was killed in an encounter with the police on Friday night. A police spokesperson claimed that Sahianwala Police SHO Aftab Waseem and his team had set up a picket at Barami Sem Nullah Bridge when they signalled four suspicious persons on two motorcycles to stop.

He claimed that instead of stopping, they opened fire on the police party and the policemen also returned the fire. When the firing stopped, one of the accused was found lying injured and he was hit by the firing of his accomplices. His three accomplices fled the scene taking advantage of the darkness, the spokesperson claimed.

He claimed the injured accused was immediately rushed to the hospital for treatment, but he succumbed to his injuries. He was identified as Khurram Shahzad, who had shot dead an elderly woman Azra Nasreen in Chak 135 RB over resistance during a dacoity in her house a few days ago.

In another encounter with the Jaranwala CCD near Chak 105 GB, three suspects on a motorcycle were stopped but they allegedly opened fire on policemen, which was also retaliated.

When the guns went silent, police claimed to have found one suspect injured. He was being shifted to the Jaranwala THQ Hospital but succumbed to his injuries on the way, police claimed.

He was identified as Waris Ali of Chak 56 GB, who was involved in dozens of robberies. He received multiple bullets fired by his two accomplices who managed to escape, police claimed.

Meanwhile, a young man allegedly involved in incidents of indecent treatment with minor children had been arrested in injured condition on Saturday by the Makkuana CCD team in Faisalabad.

Police claimed that when a team raided his house to arrest him in Chak 215 RB, the accused attempted to flee but his loaded pistol went off. As a result, he received a bullet injury and was arrested and shifted to the Allied Hospital.
