Panama Canal not planning ship passage restrictions for remainder of 2026

The Panama Canal is not planning vessel passage restrictions for the remainder of this year, even if the El Nino weather pattern begins in the second half of the year as predicted, which could hit the Central American country with another drought, the waterway tells Reuters.

The Panama Canal is currently allowing 38 ships to pass through the interoceanic way per day and has seen a demand increase in recent months, mainly due to the US-Israel war on Iran, which is affecting the use of other canals like Suez.
