Public grievances

IT is a matter of great concern that the Public Grievances Redressal Cell at the Sindh Governor House is not fully functional anymore. The cell was estab-lished to address and resolve the complaints submitted by people. Numerous complain-ants have submitted their applications and have been waiting for months without any meaningful response or resolution.

This prolonged inaction not only under-mines public confidence, but also adds to the frustration and helplessness of already aggrieved citizens. Ultimately, people are left disheartened, and they begin to believe that all institutions function in the same indifferent manner.

Under the Constitution, the right to due process and fair treatment is enshrined in Articles 4 and 10-A, which guarantee that every citizen should be dealt with in accordance with law, and people have the right to a fair hearing. The failure of the cell to decide matters within a reason-able time frustrates these constitutional safeguards.

The provincial governor should take immediate notice of the situation and ensure that the cell performs its duties efficiently, transparently and within a reasonable timeframe. After all, justice delayed is, indeed, justice denied. Right?
