Police recover kidnapped man from Toba

TOBA TEK SINGH: The Ghulam Muhammadabad Police of Faisalabad claimed on Tuesday to have rescued a kidnapping victim.

Police said one Abdul Rehman (35), a resident of Green View Colony who worked at a shoe store in Bhawana Bazaar, was lured by a woman named Najma Bibi of Makoana, who came to the store for shopping and befriended him.

Later, the police claimed Rehman was called to a place on the pretext of meeting and from there he was kidnapped by her and her accomplices.

Police claimed the victim was taken to Makoana and there Najma Bibi and her accomplices allegedly demanded a ransom of Rs1 million from his family.

Police claimed that when a deal was reached for Rs5 million, the family was told to leave the ransom money near the shrine of Baba Qaim Sain. Meanwhile, victim’s brother Hassan Razaq informed the police.

Seeing the sensitivity of the case, CPO Tanveer Hussain Tanio sent Lyallpur Town SP Abid Hussain Zafar and Ghulam Muhammadabad SHO Yousuf Shahzad to the spot. During raids at various places, they rescued Abdul Rehman from Makoana and arrested Najma Bibi, while her accomplices managed to escape before the police raid, the police claimed.

According to police sources, Najma Bibi had also honey trapped a patrolling police employee a few weeks ago and snatched cash and a mobile phone from him, and a case of robbery had also been registered against her at the Saddar Police station.

The police were conducting raids to arrest the remaining accused.

ACCIDENTS: A motorcyclist died after falling due to speeding in the Tata Bazaar area of Faisalabad.

According to Rescue officials, Abid Ehsan Ahmad (22), a resident of Sir Syed Town, was seriously injured after falling from the motorcycle and succumbed to his injuries on the spot.

In another accident, a tractor-trolley hit a motorcycle rider, killing him on the spot near the Rasoolpura locality on Sargodha Road in Jhang. He was identified as Altaf Mazhar (22).

Meanwhile, a pedestrian was hit by a speeding bus and died on the spot on the Faisalabad Road near Adda Bhikki in Sheikhupura.

He was identified as Muhammad Hussain (52).

In a separate incident, a car veered off the road when the driver fell asleep on the wheel on the motorway M-3 near Kachi Bhattianwala in Nankana Sahib district. As a result, car rider Hafsa Bibi (25) and her son Uraish Ali (3) were critically injured.

Rescuers shifted them to the Nankana Sahib DHQ Hospital.

MURDER: Police booked unidentified suspects for murdering 15-year-old matric student Umar Farooq, a resident of Basti Rampur of Athara Hazari tehsil of Jhang.

Victim’s uncle Azhar Abbas informed the police that his nephew left home in the morning to drop off children at the school but did not return. Later, during a search, his body was recovered from nearby fields.

SWINDLERS HELD: The Faisalabad Civil Lines Police arrested two suspects for extorting money from citizens by promising them to expedite their passport application process and claiming to be passport office officials.

A case was registered against suspects Muhammad Usman and Tawakkal Ali on the complaint of Sub-Inspector Abdul Sattar Anjum.

AWARENESS WALK: A thalassemia awareness walk titled “Red Cell Symposium -- A Day of Awareness, Learning and Impact” aimed at raising public understanding about the disease, its prevention, and the importance of regular screening at the University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF)

It was arranged by the Blood Donor Society under the umbrella of the Senior Tutor Office.

Faisalabad Medical University Pathology Head Dr Farwa Batool Shamsi, Dr Shamsa Kamal, Dr Muhammad Kashif, Dr Sadia Saleem, Abdul Manan and Dr Mahwish Israr enlightened the audience about various red cell disorders, genetic conditions, awareness strategies, and the importance of early diagnosis and community support.

ADDITIONAL CHARGE: The Commissioner as the Chairperson Faisalabad Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE) Musarrat Jabeen has assigned the additional responsibilities of the secretary of the education board to Athara Hazari Government Graduate College Principal Prof Dr Saleem Taqi Shah, who assumed the charge on Tuesday.

She had earlier assigned the additional charge of the FBISE controller of examinations to Abdullahpur Government Municipal Graduate College Assistant Prof (Physics) Rana Atiqur Rehman.
