Humidity pushes feel-like index to 44°C in Karachi
KARACHI: While the mercury stayed at 37.5 degrees Celsius, the higher moisture in the air coupled with the slow-paced southerly wind made the feel-like temperature 44°C, making it tough for Karachiites to endure.
The Met Office said the maximum temperature recorded in the city was 37.5°C with 57 per cent humidity.
“Another factor of today’s little bit extreme weather condition was that there were no southwesterly winds,” said a Met official. “The southerly winds carry more moisture so at the peak hours the feel-like temperature touched 44°C.”
