NAB probes ‘mega corruption’ in Sukkur’s Buildings Division

SUKKUR: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has initiated an inquiry into the alleged massive corruption and irregular ‘Own Pay Scale’ (OPS) appointments within the Sukkur Buildings Division.

The move follows a formal complaint lodged with the director general of NAB Sukkur by local political and social leader Amir Bakhsh, also known as Mir Mahar.

The complainant alleges that Executive Engineer (XEN) Abdul Wahid Qasmi and Assistant Executive Engineer (AEN) Abdul Majeed Chachar — both currently posted in the Sukkur Buildings Division — are holding additional charge as XEN for the Highways Division Ghotki, in direct contravention of Supreme Court rulings.

The petition further names Sub-Engineer Aamir Solangi and Clerk Qurban Bhutto, accusing the group of embezzling billions of rupees from the national exchequer through a series of fraudulent contracts.

The group is accused of embezzling billions of rupees from the national exchequer through a series of fraudulent contracts, including the alleged pocketing of funds by issuing repeat payments for government projects that had already been completed.
