Anti-encroachment, beautification drives planned in Larkana
LARKANA: The district council and administration have been planning a strategy for an anti-encroachment operation across the district. Larkana Deputy Commissioner Tariq Manzoor Chandio held a meeting with District Council Chairman Aijaz Ahmed Laghari and Vice Chairman Asadullah Bhutto in his office on Monday to discuss administrative and developmental matters in this regard.
It was agreed that their joint teams would conduct field verification of encroachments and illegal occupation of public spaces. Legal action against offenders would be initiated in accordance with the Local Government Act, 2013, they decided.
The meeting focused on the management, lease, and recovery of rent from the council’s properties located across the district.
Mr Laghari said that a comprehensive survey of all council-owned shops, plots and commercial units was currently underway to update official records. The DC stressed the need for transparent auction of vacant properties and timely recovery of outstanding dues in order to broaden the revenue generating base of the council.
The council’s properties will be transferred in its name to secure and protect the property titles.
