Pakistani diaspora pledges resolve to defend homeland

WASHINGTON: With repeated chants of “Pakistan Zindabad” echoing through the hall for nearly three hours, the atmosphere at the Pakistan Embassy here on Friday evening turned into a sustained expression of national solidarity, as participants pledged unity in defending the homeland and strengthening its future.

The embassy marked the first anniversary of Marka-i-Haq — a phrase it called “a testament of historical significance to Pakistan’s unity, resilience, and unwavering national resolve” — through a ceremony that blended formal diplomacy with an unusually animated display of diaspora sentiment.

From the opening moments, the gathering — attended by members of the Pakistani-American diaspora, students, business leaders, scholars, embassy officials, and media representatives — was defined less by protocol and more by collective emotion.

Members of the Pakistani-American community participated enthusiastically, reaffirming their deep love for and commitment to the homeland as well as solidarity with the nation, while the embassy’s Jamshed Marker Hall repeatedly resonated with patriotic slogans that continued between speeches and performances.

Around the venue, conversations at tables mirrored the tone on stage. Participants engaged in animated discussions about national unity, civil-military cohesion, and what many described informally as the need to “stay united in every circumstance” to safeguard Pakistan’s sovereignty and stability.
