Poet Ahmad Khoso’s book Noor-i-Hidayat launched

LARAKANA: The Sachal Literary Centre on Friday convened a book launch in honour of celebrated poet Ahmad Sultan Khoso, marking the publication of his latest literary work, Noor-i-Hidayat (The light of guidance).

The presiding panel of the event comprised of the author himself , alongside esteemed Prof Mukhtiar Samo, Jawad Jafri and Dr Bashir Ahmad Shad.

Addressing the assembly, speakers paid tribute to Ahmad Khoso’s enduring legacy in Sindhi literature, noting that his extensive body of work has become a distinguished fixture of the literary canon. They particularly lauded his mastery of naat — a poetic form of immense spiritual elevation — observing that he rendered it with singular grace and reverence.

The speakers maintained that the distinct individuality of his verse has secured him an unmistakable identity in the literary world. Beyond his poetic achievements, Khoso was celebrated as a prose writer of significant merit whose creative range spanned multiple traditions, including the ghazal, manqabat and marsiya, each delivered with profound artistry and spiritual depth.

In addition to the presiding dignitaries, eminent men of letters — Dr. Aziz Qasmani, Mansoor Sarmad and Rizwan Gul — also shared their thoughtful reflections and literary impressions regarding Noor-i-Hidayat. Following the book launch ceremony, a mushaira was held, wherein the luminaries of Sindhi poetry graced the assembly with the recitations of their verse.

Those who paid tributes on the occasion were Dr Bashir Ahmad Shad, Mukhtiar Samo, Ahmad Sultan Khoso, Jawad Jafri, Zeb Kango, Khawar Qabulai, Siddiq Soomro, Dr Imdad Shaikh, Shahmir Soomro, Ali Roshan Sheikh, Sarfraz Sakhi, Mansoor Sarmad, Naveed Naz Bhatti, Arshad Umeed, Aziz Qasmani, Rizwan Gul, Azhar Majeed, Faqeer Isa and several others.
