Six absconders repatriated from UAE through Interpol
GUJRAT / TOBA TEK SINGH: As many as six wanted suspects in different cases across the province have been repatriated from UAE the United Arab Emirates (UAE) through Interpol.A senior official of the Gujranwala Crime Control Department (CCD) police said that the arrested suspects had been brought to Pakistan and were handed over to the police of concerned districts in various parts of Punjab.
He said the repatriated suspects included Muhammad Rafique, who was wanted in a murder case and was handed over to the Tatley Aali Police of Gujranwala; Umar Hayat wanted in a kidnapping case to the Saddar Wazirabad Police; Azam and Faisal Imran wanted in murder cases to the Faisalabad police, whereas Muhammad Safeer was wanted in a murder case and was handed over to the Khushab police.
All these repatriated suspects had initially been declared as proclaimed offenders by the police of their respective districts after which their red warrants were issued through the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).
A CCD spokesperson said that the repatriation became successful due to the cooperation of international law enforcement agencies.
Meanwhile, Faisalabad’s Jhang Bazar Police claimed to have arrested a proclaimed offender in a murder case from UAE through a red warrant.
Police spokesperson said that accused Firdoul Azam of Hangu KPK had shot dead shoe trader Akbar Khan on Dec 6, 2019 over an old litigation underway between their families in Hangu courts.
The accused had fled abroad after the murder eight years ago.
A police team headed by Inspector Asim Mukhtar went to the UAE to arrest the accused and he was handed over to him by the Interpol team.
