Four injured in mob attack on police team

TOBA TEK SINGH: A Faisalabad Saddar Police van driver and a passerby along with two of the attackers were injured when a mob allegedly attacked a police party in the main bazaar of Mouza Kakkuana on Friday night.

Complainant ASI Muhammad Yaqub claimed in the FIR that when he along with other policemen arrived there to ask shopkeepers to close their shops under the lockdown notification, Irfan and his nine nominated accomplices along with a mob allegedly pelted them with stones and bricks, tore their uniforms, injured police van driver Shahbaz, passerby Ali Ahmad and two of their own accomplices.

Police have arrested some of the accused persons.

PAPER LEAK: The Faisalabad Airport Police registered a case against unknown accused persons for leaking the biology question paper for ninth class examination being held by the Faisalabad Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE).

FBISE Controller Examinations Dr Muhammad Jaffar Ali claimed in his complaint to the police that the question paper was sent through WhatsApp to different people by unidentified accused from a mobile phone number (given in the FIR).

It is to be mentioned that due to the incident, examinations for three subjects scheduled for May 6 were postponed and those would be held on Monday.

Police are investigating.

E-COMMERCE FOCUS GROUP: University of Kamalia (UoK) office of research, innovation & commercialisation (ORIC) organised the first meeting of its IT & E-Commerce Industry Focus Group with Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Yasir Nawab in the chair.

The VC highlighted the overall purpose of the focus group, emphasising the importance of meaningful academia–industry collaboration, digital innovation, student startups, freelancing, e-commerce, exports promotion, and skill-based learning.

He also appreciated the potential of UoK students and stressed the need to equip them with practical, market-oriented skills for future success. Group Chairperson Shabbir Halai emphasised the need to identify a clear pathway, define year-end objectives, and develop a practical one-year roadmap for the group.

Members including Raza Chinoy, Khurram Rahat, vice admiral retd Syed Khawar Ali Shah and Fakiha Zubair shared valuable insights regarding exports, startups, IT and cybersecurity projects, AI-based student assessments, freelancing, career counselling, skill development, SME support, and the concept of “Degree with Skill.”

The meeting finalised that the focus group will continue its engagement on a monthly basis and work toward strengthening IT skills, e-commerce, freelancing, entrepreneurship, student employability, startup development, and industry–academia linkages.

RAPE ACCUSED HELD: The Jaranwala Bachiana Police claimed to have arrested two suspects accused of raping a 14-year-old girl five months ago.

The victim’s father claimed in his complainant to the police that his victim daughter T was alone at home when her friend R took her to her home where the two accused forcibly raped her.

The complainant added that the victim kept mum and disclosed the incident after five months to the family.
