Gulberg Town launches financial assistance for deserving students

KARACHI: Gulberg Town has launched the “Education Card” programme to provide financial assistance to nearly 1,000 deserving students, becoming the first town administration in the country to introduce such support at this level.

The programme has been funded with Rs6.5 million collected from industrial units operating in the town. Under the initiative, students can receive up to Rs10,000 for textbooks, uniforms, stationery and other educational needs.

This was announced on Thursday at a press conference by Gulberg Town Chairman Nusratullah along with representatives of the Federal B. Area Association of Trade and Industry.

Mr Nusratullah said students from both public and private schools would be eligible. Applications and distribution would be managed through an online system to ensure transparency.

“The programme is aimed at students from 22 blocks of Federal B Area falling under Gulberg Town,” he said. “If our town can achieve such results despite limited resources and powers, there is no reason the government cannot do the same. This is our party’s stance that Karachi’s problems can only be resolved through honest and capable leadership.”

He also thanked local industrialists for supporting the initiative.
