KARACHI: A suspected robber was shot dead in an “encounter” near Nagan Chowrangi on early Friday morning.

Sharea Noorjehan SHO Sarfraz Commando said that the suspect snatched cell phones and other valuables from the citizens on gunpoint. As he was fleeing, a patrolling police party reached the spot. On seeing the personnel, the mugger fired four shots but the policemen remained safe. In retaliatory firing, he was wounded and arrested.

He was taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead.

The deceased was identified as Moosa alias Don. The police said one pistol, two snatched cell phones and cash one motorcycle were recovered from his custody.
