Two rape suspects held
BAHAWALPUR: Lodhran police claimed to have arrested two persons allegedly involved in the rape of a minor girl and a boy in separate cases on Wednesday.
According to police spokesman, the Jallah Arian police arrested ‘R’ who on May 2 had allegedly attempted to rape a six-year-old girl.
According to the first information report registered under sections 376 and 377 of Pakistan Penal Code, complainant ‘F’ alleged that her daughter disappeared while playing in the street of her house in five-marla scheme of Makhdum Aali.
She along with her husband found her in a nearby house of the suspect who attempted to rape her. The police arrested the suspect on Wednesday.
In the second case, Lodhran city police claimed the arrest of suspect ‘S’ who allegedly raped a 10-year-old boy on May 1. According to FIR registered under sections 376 and 377 of PPC, complainant ‘H’ said his son was allured by the suspect who took him to his house, where he allegedly raped him.
ACE: The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) claimed to have arrested buildings inspector Siraj Ahmed of municipal corporation, Bahawalpur, red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs15,000 from complainant Aamir Shehzad on Wednesday.
According to ACE, the suspect had received an amount from the complainant for the approval of his house plan.
SURPRISE VISIT: Several government officials of the Cholistan Development Authority, Bahawalpur, were found absent from duty during the surprise visit of south Punjab Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) Fuad Hashim Rabbani to the CDA Complex on Wednesday.
According to a handout, the south Punjab ACS paid a surprise visit to CDA Complex and found many officials absent, The ACS expressed his displeasure over officials’ absence. The handout added that the additional chief secretary ordered the concerned officers for action under government rules against the absentee officials.
