KARACHI: The city witnessed significant relief from the ongoing intense heat on Tuesday when the maximum temperature declined to 38.3 degrees Celsius, a day after touching 44.1°C, the highest day temperature recorded in the past eight years.

The Met office said that the drop in the temperature started late on Monday night when the sea breeze restored and in the early hours of the day it reached to normal level across the metropolis.

Unlike Monday, weather remained humid on Tuesdday with 56 per cent humidity in the air.

“In the afternoon, winds were blowing from the southwest at 20 kilometres per hour, which kept the weather conditions much better than Monday,” said a Met official.

“This trend would continue and we may witness further drop in the temperatures for next few days. However, after second week of the month, there are still chances of increase in the temperature again,” the official added.
