Man wanted for ‘torture’ of wildlife rangers held
DERA GHAZI KHAN: A man accused of torture of wildlife rangers’ officials was arrested in a joint raid conducted by police and wildlife rangers team in Khanewal.
As per officials, the raid was conducted by the assistant chief wildlife ranger and police on the direction of the deputy chief wildlife ranger of the Multan region to arrest the suspect, Irshad Sial Faqir.
The suspect and his accomplices aha allegedly tortured some wildlife ranger officials. The raid was conducted on the suspect’s outhouse after obtaining search warrants from a magistrate, the officials said.
They said that prior to the raid, the suspects had vacated their homes and fled Basti Sial Faqir, a hard-to-access area in the central region of Rachna Doab, sharing borders with three districts --- Jhang, Muzaffargarh and Khanewal.
During the raid, the team also confiscatedillegally kept wild birds, which were later transferredto the Wildlife Complex in Pirowal.
The confiscated birds included green Java peafowl, francolins, white doves and exotic doves.
