Eviction from PU residence: Revision plea by Pectaa MD dismissed

LAHORE: A sessions court has dismissed a revision petition by Punjab Education Curriculum Training and Assessment Authority (Pectaa) Managing Director-Operations Dr Maliha Uroos against vacation of the stay she obtained against her eviction from the official accommodation at Punjab University, attached to her previous post.

Additional District & Sessions Judge Shafqat Shahbaz Raja, in a written verdict, upheld the trial court’s decision, observing that the impugned order did not suffer from any illegality or material irregularity requiring the court’s interference.

Dr Uroos had challenged the university administration’s decision to withdraw from her the additional charge of the post of girls’ Hostel No 2 superintendent, directing her to vacate the official accommodation allotted in connection with that office.

She had earlier secured a temporary injunction from the trial court, restraining the university from taking any action against her. However, the same court subsequently dismissed the stay application, after hearing the parties.

Aggrieved by the withdrawal of the interim relief, Dr Uroos approached the sessions court, seeking restoration of the stay order.

After examining the record, the AD&SJ held that the trial court had passed the order in accordance with law and that no ground had been made out for revival of the injunction.
