From The Past Pages Of Dawn: 1951: Seventy-five years ago: ‘Hindustan Hamara Party’
KARACHI: The Karachi public were electrified on Monday [April 30] by the report of the formation of the “Hindustan Hamara Party” which most newspapers carried on the front page. This was the main topic of conversation, especially among the common people. At three social functions attended by the usual “elite” in the evening, the matter was also discussed. Some took a grave view of it, others were prone to [dismissing] it... .
Some enquiries were received, according to two of the Party’s sponsors, as to how intending members could enrol in the Party. One of the sponsors told Dawn: “A very important person has asked whether he can join.” It is understood that the Party’s manifesto is in the process of drafting.
[As reported by news agencies from Madrid,] a seven-year-old girl, Conchita Ferrara, is running about and behaving normally here after having half her brain removed, according to the newspaper, Puevlo. The child suffered for two years from epileptic fits following meningitis. Dr Obrador Alcalde of Madrid removed a large section of the encephalic mass in an operation that lasted five hours. The child has completely recovered.
