Govt approves Rescue 1122 academy in Khyber

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has approved a proposal to set up the Rescue 1122 academy in the Shakas area of Khyber district at a cost of Rs3.7 billion.

In a statement issued here, Director General Rescue 1122 Academy, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Dr Khateer Ahmed Khan said that the Shakas academy will be built on 300 kanals of land and would be completed by June 2028.

He said that the academy would provide modern and basic training to Rescue 1122 personnel. Besides, he said that the facility will also offer specialised training in firefighting, emergency medical care, and disaster management for the rescuers.

Dr Ahmed said that the academy will also include a swimming pool, where divers will receive specialised training.

Besides, he said that for physical training, the academy will have grounds, a gym, and necessary equipment and supplies. In addition to this, the building will feature an auditorium, a training tower, hostels, and other modern facilities.

Dr Ahmed said that the newly recruited personnel will receive six months of training at the academy, while refresher courses will also be conducted for in-service personnel.

He said that the academy will also provide modern training, including first aid and firefighting, to male and female students as well as government and private institutions.

“The project will help further improve the performance of Rescue 1122,” he said.
