Two gunned down in Rawalpindi
RAWALPINDI: A man was shot dead while another was injured in a clash between two rival groups in the Waris Khan area, while another motorcycle rider was shot and killed by some unidentified persons in Dhamial on Wednesday, police said.
Bakht Alam, 22, resident of Chakri Road, was on his way home at about 2.30am when two unidentified persons opened fire on him near Bahar Colony.
As a result, he was critically injured and subsequently shifted to Benazir Bhutto Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. The deceased sustained two bullet wounds.
Later, the body was shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital for postmortem. The motive behind the murder was yet to be ascertained by the police.
In the second incident, Wahab Qureshi, 25, was gunned down by his rivals while another person was also injured in the clash between the two groups in Amarpura Mohalla.
Police said that Wahab Qureshi sustained bullet injuries during the fight and died. Another man, identified as Daniyal Mahmood, 25, a resident of Amarpura, was also injured during the fight. The injured was shifted to BBH emergency in critical condition. Police said that the cause of the incident was old enmity. CPO Syed Khalid Mahmood Hamdani has taken notice of the incident in which a citizen was killed and another was injured in firing in the area ofWaris Khan police station and sought a report from SP Rawal.
According to initial reports, the incident appears to be a result of previous enmity. However, the incident is being investigated, police spokesman said. The SSP Investigation also visited the injured citizen in the hospital. The accused/accused involved will be arrested and brought to justice, police spokesman said.
