Principal, teacher booked over student’s death in Karachi
KARACHI: The principal of a private school and a teacher have been booked on manslaughter charges after a teenage girl fell from the school’s roof in Orangi Town a couple of days ago and died, police said on Wednesday.
A police spokesperson said the 15-year-old student, Kanza, fell from the fourth floor of the school building in Gabol Colony.
She suffered critical injuries and was initially taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital and later shifted to a private hospital. However, she died during treatment.
The deceased had been enrolled at the school since Class 6.
The Orangi Town police registered a case on the complaint filed by the victim’s father, Raja Mehdi Hasan, against the school’s principal, who is also the owner, and a chemistry teacher. Police said both suspects have fled.
