LHC rejects bail in doctor blackmail case
LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday dismissed the bail application of an accused allegedly involved in filming a video of a female doctor and blackmailing her.
According to a spokesperson, Justice Waheed Khan heard the bail plea of the accused. During the hearing, a deputy attorney general, representing the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), informed the court that the accused had been employed as a driver at a private hospital.
After being dismissed from service, he allegedly conspired with a security guard to install hidden cameras in the bathroom of a doctors’ residence.
The prosecution submitted that the accused recorded an objectionable video and later demanded Rs.2.5 million.
The FIA arrested him following a complaint lodged by a doctor’s son.
The defence counsel argued that the accused had already been in custody for the past 10 months and maintained that the matter would be determined during trial.
After hearing arguments from both sides, the court rejected the bail plea.
