Centre, KP on same page over Afghans’ return: Kundi
KHYBER: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi has said that federal and provincial governments are in “complete harmony” on the repatriation policy for Afghan nationals living in the country.
During a visit to the Hamza Baba transit point in Landi Kotal here on Monday, the governor said that every effort was made to facilitate an honourable and dignified return of the Afghan families as they had lived in Pakistan for over four decades.
Talking about the prolonged closure of the Torkham border point, he insisted that though Pakistan had always strived to assist Afghan people with earnestness but at the same time security issues from across the border could not be ignored.
Mr Kundi said that Pakistan was taking every possible step to ensure a peaceful relationship between the two neighbouring countries.
He during his visit frankly mingled with the Afghans at the transit point and heard their grievances which he promised to remove.
Earlier, the governor was told by authorities that every effort was made to provide the maximum facilities to the returning Afghans and make the process of their registration and verification easy.
He was accompanied by PDMA and NAFRA chiefs and officials of the FIA, customs and district administration.
