DRIVING IN KARACH

DRIVING IN KARACHI: I had a chance to visit Accountant-General Pakistan Revenues (AGPR) and the Accountant-General Sindh offices in Karachi. There is no proper route to reach there because of the ongoing Red Line project. All the surrounding roads are in a pathetic state. The only way to reach these offices is by passing under the Nipa bridge. The chief minister and the mayor should visit the side lanes along Nipa and other localities to experience what motor-ists in Karachi experience every day.

AIRPORT TURNING: The turning towards the airport in Karachi was closed after a suicide-bombing was carried out in the vicinity back in 2024. This route has always been the most practical access point for people travelling from Malir Cantonment towards Sharea Faisal. With the University Road already in a terrible condition, most of the local residents use it. Since the closure of this turning, people have been forced to go straight and then take a U-turn, which is merely a waste of time and expensive fuel without serving any practical purpose. The authorities must either restore the cut or immediately fix the road infrastructure ahead if they expect people to use alternative routes.

EXPERIENTIAL EDUCATION: Previously, students from grades IX to XII used to undertake practical exami-nations in their own institutions, fostering hands-on skills and real-world application of their knowledge. However, under the new policy of the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Sukkur, practical exams are being reduced to written questions. This shift creates a damaging gap between theoretical learning and practical application. Students are now being deprived of essential experiential education, which will severely impact their preparedness for applied sciences at the university level. The board should reconsider the policy and restore the practical examinations to ensure a balanced, robust education for all students.
