Three more killed as ‘encounters’ continue
NAROWAL: Three suspects were killed and as many were arrested in injured condition in alleged encounters in Sialkot, Sahiwal and Toba Tek Singh.
In Sialkot, two suspects were killed and three escaped during an alleged ‘encounter’.
The district police spokesperson said the personnel of Daska Saddar Police Station were patrolling the Dholiwali Canal from Sian Jhal. Five suspects riding motorcycles coming from the Dholiwali Mor opened fire on the policemen who saved their lives by hiding behind trees. Police retaliated and the encounter continued for 30 minutes. When the firing stopped, bodies of two suspects were found but they could not be unidentified.
SAHIWAL: Police arrested three suspects in injured condition in as many encounters in Noor Shah, Farid Town, and Shah Kot police areas in the past 24 hours.
In the first incident, a Noor Shah police team received a 15 police call about three suspects robbing teh citizens near Chak 61/4-R. On spotting the police van, the suspects opened fire and the encounter lasted for 15 minutes. After the firing, one Bashir Bagee, a resident of Tibbi Jhandree, was arrested. He was injured while his two accomplices had fled.
In Farid Town, one Ijaz of Gamber was arrested in injured condition after an encounter while his companion escaped.
In Chak 18/14-L, Shah Kot police rushed to the site of a robbery. The suspects opened fire at the personnel, triggering a shootout. When firing stopped one Muhammad Irshad, a resident of Chak 24/14-L, was found injured. Police said his two accomplices, Saeed Ahmed and Ijaz Rawari, residents of village 21/14-L, managed to flee.
TOBA TEK SINGH: A suspect was killed near Chak-99, Gojra in an encounter with the Crime Control Department (CCD).
The CCD stopped three three suspects riding on a motorcycle but they opened fire, which was also returned. As a result of the firing, one of them was injured. He later succumbed to his injuries and was identified as Zohaib of Kamalia.
