KASUR: A woman allegedly shot and injured a youth who refused to marry her at Kohna Road in the limits of Pattoki police station on Thursday.

Rescue 1122 said that it responded to a call regarding a firing incident at Kohna Road where it received a youth, identified as Farooq Ahmed of Changa Manga, with a bullet injury in his forehead. He was shifted to the Pattoki THQ hospital. He was later referred to Lahore in a critical condition.

Rescue claimed in a press release that the mother of injured Ahmed told rescuers that Sidra wanted to marry Ahmed. On his refusal, she shot and injured him seriously.

However, Pattoki police claimed Ahmed (22) wanted to marry Sidra Bibi (45), who refused because she was already married, which led to an argument. According to the police, the accused’s husband was in jail for the last several months.

Police, in its report sent to the high-ups, said that the incident occurred at the house of the accused, where Ahmad and his mother, residents of Changa Manga, were present. The accused woman managed her escape after the incident.

Police said they had not received any complaint from the injured man but they were looking into the matter.

SNAKE: Panic spread at a public health clinic when a snake made its way into the facility in village Phalian on Thursday.

According to Rescue 1122, a large snake entered the Maryam Nawaz Health Clinic, forcing patients and staff of the clinic to run for their lives.

Rescue 1122 rushed to the spot and caught the reptile that was reported to be about five feet long.

The health facility resumed its services after about three hours.

ACCIDENT: Three students suffered injuries after their rickshaw overturned due to a tyre burst on Khai road.

According to the Khudian police, an overloaded rickshaw carrying 15 schoolchildren overturned near village Khai. Three children including Hadia (8), Tayaba (10) and Zainab (6) were injured. They were given first aid before being shifted to the hospital.

According to eyewitnesses, the three-wheeler was overloaded with students and its front wheel burst as a result.

The locals alleged that the tehsil administration had been giving a blind eye to the issue of overloaded rickshaws and other transportation means, including buses for students that were also in poor condition.
