Cooperation on food safety, nutrition

LAHORE: The Punjab Agriculture, Food and Drug Authority (PAFDA) has entered into an agreement of cooperation with the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) to deepen collaboration at the intersection of food safety, nutrition, and sustainable food systems in Pakistan.

The agreement was signed at PAFDA headquarters in Lahore by authority DG Dr Talat Naseer Pasha, and GAIN country director Farrah Naz. Under the agreement, both organisations will work on a range of priority areas, including strengthening nutrition labelling and claims, supporting fortification and biofortification initiatives, and advancing understanding of the food security/safety-nutrition nexus through joint studies and risk-based approaches.
