Shops sealed, fines imposed for violation of smart lockdown

NAROWAL: As many as 15 businesses were sealed, 69 citizens were issued heavy fines by the Narowal Pera Force for violating Punjab government’s orders of smart lockdown.

Pera District Officer Faisal Nadeem told Dawn that strict legal action was being taken against those violating smart lockdown on the instructions of the Punjab government. He said that Pera Force teams had sealed 15 shops and business points that violated the government orders in the past two days.

He said teams also issued challans to 17 shops for violating smart lockdown and imposed a fine of Rs87,500.

Moreover, he said that Pera officials issued challans to 32 shopkeepers who were collecting excessive profits from citizens and collected a fine of Rs104,000. He said that 20 shopkeepers were fined Rs61,500 for encroachments.

He said that the total fine amount of Rs253,000 had been deposited in the treasury of the Punjab government.

Mr Nadeem said that they were ensuring 100 percent implementation of the smart lockdown orders of the Punjab government and the instructions of the district administration.

He warned the shopkeepers and businessmen to close their shops on time. He said that strict legal action would be taken against those who violate the law without discrimination.
