BAHAWALPUR: The Vehari Daniwal police claimed to have arrested two suspects on Friday for allegedly unleashing their pet dog on a young girl in the Bhatta Ikram locality the other day.
According to a Vehari Police spokesperson, Raashida Bibi claimed in her complaint that Zahoor and Asad unleashed their pet dog on her daughter Fatima Bibi (14) for asking the suspects to not bring the dog outside the house. On this, she claimed that the suspects had threatened her of consequences.
On April 7, she claimed that both suspects intercepted her and allegedly unleashed the dog on her daughter to take revenge. She said that her daughter suffered wounds on her face, forehead, cheeks, while dog bites were also visible on her feet.
The Daniwal police registered an FIR on April 8 and arrested both nominated suspects on Friday.
RAPIST ARRESTED: The Lodhran city police claimed to have arrested an alleged rapist of a minor girl in Mohallah Easiwala on Friday.
According to a police spokesperson, a woman registered an FIR on April 6 in which she claimed that in her absence from her house, one S entered the house and attempted to rape her daughter E. She claimed that he escaped when she arrived home.
The victim had been referred to the Lodhran DHQ hospital for medical examination and police claimed to have raided several places and arrested the alleged rapist.
MISSING: The body of one Rana Mudassar (20), who drowned in River Sutlej near Mailsi syphon on Thursday evening could not be retrieved so far despite the passage of 24 hours.
According to a Rescue 1122 spokesperson, the deceased had come from Multan to participate in a marriage ceremony and went for a picnic to the River Sutlej, where he slipped and drowned in the river.
He said the rescuers tried to search for the victim but due to poor visibility the search was postponed for Friday.
The spokesperson told Dawn that since Friday morning, their divers were searching for the body in the river, which was eighty feet wide and thirty-five feet deep, but could not locate it till the filing of this report. The search was once again postponed till Saturday due to poor visibility.
RELEASED: Justice Sadiq Khurram of the Lahore High Court (LHC) Bahawalpur bench ordered the release of PTI South Punjab Secretary Asghar Joyia, who was arrested the other day for protesting against the government.
According to the verdict of Joia’s writ petition, the court declared his detention orders as illegal and ordered his release on Friday.
