SUKKUR: MPA Syed Farrukh Ahmed Shah has inaugurated the Psychiatry Department at Anwar Paracha Teaching Hospital, Sukkur.

On the occasion, he also inaugurated a modern OPD room for the patients of psychiatric disorders, providing citizens with access to mental health facilities at the local level.

Hospital Medical Superintendent (MS) Dr Asad Sarwar Soomro Dr Harish and other doctors and medical staff were present at the inauguration ceremony.

Ahmed Shah, who is also the son of PPP leader Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah, visited various departments of the hospital and reviewed the ongoing development work, medical facilities and administrative affairs in detail.

During the visit, he was informed that previous shortcomings of the hospital had been largely addressed while work for improvement was fast.

Speaking to reporters, the MPA stated that the Sindh government is taking excellent steps in the health sector.

He said: “Free medical treatment, quality medical facilities and the provision of medicines are being ensured for poor citizens. This OPD in the mental health sector will prove to be a great convenience for the public.”
