55 minority cards distributed in Taxila
TAXILA: The local administration on Saturday distributed 55 minority cards in Taxila and Wah as part of a welfare initiative aimed at providing financial support to underprivileged non-Muslim households.
The cards were handed over to 41 male and 14 female members of the Christian community at a ceremony here on Saturday.
Under the programme, eligible households receive Rs10,500 every three months (quarterly) through a digital card or bank transfer to support essential expenses such as food, education and utilities.
Assistant Commissioner Maria Javaid, speaking on the occasion, said the district administration would implement further initiatives under the vision of the Punjab government to promote the development and prosperity of the minority community.
She said the Minority Card Scheme was also an important link in this chain through which financial support was being provided to thousands of deserving families.
PML-N divisional president Malik Umar Farooq said the Punjab government under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz was striving to provide facilities at the doorsteps of people.
“The programme offers quarterly financial aid of Rs10,500 to eligible families, aiming to enhance their socioeconomic conditions.
This initiative reflects the Punjab government’s commitment to fostering inclusivity and supporting minority communities,” he said.
The Christian community expressed gratitude to the chief minister on the occasion.
