German ⁠Chancellor Friedrich ⁠Merz has said there is no reason Berlin would consider providing military protection to shipping through the Strait of Hormuz amid Iranian attacks around the strategically important waterway, Al Jazeera reports.

“Germany is not part of this war, and we do ‌not want to become part of it,” he said during a visit to Norway.
