A statement from the UAE’s Ministry of Defence says its air defences are currently responding to incoming missile and drone threats from Iran, Al Jazeera reports.

It says the sounds heard in various parts of the country are the result the systems intercepting ballistic missiles, as well as fighter jets intercepting drones and munitions.
