Teenager shot dead in Islamabad’s G-7 sector
ISLAMABAD: An 18-year-old boy was shot dead in unexplained circumstances at Islamabad’s Golden Market in G-7 sector on Tuesday, prompting his family and local residents to stage a protest demonstration, demanding an independent investigation into the incident.
The deceased, identified as Anis Baloch, was the son of a prayer leader of a mosque at Saidpur Village.
Talking to some reporters outside the Polyclinic hospital, the victim’s father said that his son had gone to meet someone in G-7 after offering Asr prayers. He later received the information that his son had been shot dead by someone.
He urged the police high-ups, including the IGP, to bring the culprits to the justice.
Some of the Khateebs and prayer leaders, who had gathered outside the hospital, threatened to block roads of the capital to register their protest, if the police failed to take immediate action and register an FIR of the incident. They also called for conducting autopsy of the slain teenager in the presence of the family members.
They alleged that they had repeatedly tried to reach out to the police and the district administration, but got no response.
Despite repeated attempts, no police official was available for a comment over the incident.
