ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) on Tuesday said that as per the regulations adopted by the civic agency it is mandatory to establish charging stations for electric vehicles at nearly all 138 filling stations in Islamabad as civic agency exploring Chinese investment in this sector.
A meeting was held between a CDA team headed by Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa, which was also attended by Additional Secretary Joudat Ayaz and a delegation of Chinese investors.
Discussions were held regarding the promotion of electric charging stations and the acquisition of innovative and modern technology in the Federal Capital, says a statement.
Quoting CDA chief, the statement said that there were immense opportunities for investment in electric charging infrastructure in the Federal Capital. Mr Randhawa said that the CDA has adopted regulations regarding electric vehicle charging stations, and implementation of these regulations is now being ensured.
Member Planning and Design told the meeting that according to regulations, a 3pc charging facility has been made mandatory in commercial buildings. Furthermore, as per the regulations it is mandatory to establish charging stations at all filling stations. Similarly, he said that it will be mandatory to install one electric charging point at existing filling stations and two electric charging points at new filling stations.
The CDA chairmansaid that planning is underway to establish charging hubs at various locations in Islamabad.
Chinese delegation said that they are ready to provide all possible cooperation regarding the establishment of electric charging stations in the Federal Capital, Islamabad. They also briefed about 3D printed housing technology.
Mr Randhawa directed that a feasibility study be prepared regarding 3D printed housing technology adding that that they aim to promote modern and innovative technology as well as low-cost green and eco-friendly housing in Islamabad. He said that work should also be done on technology transfer in this regard.
Discussions were also held during the meeting regarding the introduction of electric bikes and electric scooties in Islamabad.
Chairman CDA Muhammad Ali Randhawa said that work is going on various environment-friendly projects, including the introduction of electric trams adding that they are creating a conducive environment for investment in this regard.
The meeting reaffirmed the commitment to promote mutual cooperation regarding electric charging infrastructure, Innovative technological solutions, transfer of environment-friendly technology, and related projects.
Ramazan Women bazaar inaugurated
Mr Randhawa inaugurated the stalls established at the special Ramazan Sahulat Bazaar for women in Sector G-11 on Tuesday.
On this occasion, the Chief Officer Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad Dr Anam Fatima and women from the Islamabad Women’s Chamber of Commerce, as well as a large number of consumers, were also present.
According to MCI, approximately 48 stalls in the G-11 Ramazan Sahulat Bazaar have been allocated to women in this regard. The stalls set up in the Sahulat bazaar will be operational till Chand Raat.
The CDA chairman visited various sections of the Women’s Ramazan Sahulat Bazaar and inspected different items available at the stalls. He also inquired about problems from the women vendors and other customers. Stalls for items including bangles, mehndi and readymade garments among other goods, have been set up for women, while at other stalls, daily use items and edibles are being sold to citizens at affordable rates.
He was also informed that strict implementation of official rates is being ensured in all Ramazan Sahulat Bazaars and continuous monitoring is also being carried out to ensure the sale of edibles at official rates.
The briefing said that the CDA and district administration are fully active to provide all possible relief to citizens during the holy month of Ramdan and cash less system is also available in these bazaars. He was told that strict actions are being taken against profiteers and hoarders during the holy month.
The CDA chairmandirected that the sale of items must be ensured in accordance with the rate list under all circumstances and strict action should be taken against those collecting amounts exceeding the official prices and those involved in illegal profiteering.
