TOBA TEK SINGH: Punjab Inspector General of Police Rao Abdul Karim suspended Jhang’s City Circle DSP, Abdul Majeed Gujjar, on Thursday on charges of misconduct and inefficiency and failure to implement a court order.
The Jhang Kotwali police have registered a case under Section 155-C of the Police Order against the suspended DSP, as well as SHO Ansar Abbas and ASI Ijaz Ali. They were accused of reluctance to implement a court order regarding the transfer of land possession to a citizen, Fazal Muhammad.
The Jhang DPO has suspended SHO Abbas and ASI Ali, both of whom have been arrested.
A separate case has been registered under Section 409 of the PPC against Girdawar Mahboob Ahmad Kanwar and Patwari Noor Akbar of the revenue department. The complaint, filed by Tehsildar Atif Mahmood Gondal, alleges that the officials disobeyed court orders to assist the court bailiff and refused to provide the necessary land records for the execution of the order.
Sources say the dispute involves a property in the Ghaziabad locality of Jhang, owned by the family of an army officer. Following a court warrant of possession in favour of the family, the officer accompanied a court bailiff and revenue officials to the site to enforce the order.
The situation turned tense when dozens of individuals from the opposing party gathered at the scene. Upon arriving with reinforcements, DSP Abdul Majeed Gujjar allegedly misbehaved and engaged in a physical scuffle with the senior officer.
The officer reported the incident to higher authorities, citing gross police negligence. Following this, the IG Punjab ordered immediate disciplinary action.
A police spokesperson has confirmed the registration of the FIRs and the suspension of the police officials concerned, stating that further action will be taken in light of the inquiry findings.
Meanwhile, a third FIR under the Anti-Terrorism Act and other offences has also been lodged against 14 nominated, including Jhang district bar association general secretary and nine other lawyers, and 15 unidentified persons over the alleged torture of brother of the army officer, causing him injuries and spreading fear.
The sources said the third FIR has been sealed.
COUPLE: A scuffle between a couple took the life of their minor baby in Faisalabad’s Balochni police area on Thursday.
Police report said Adnan and his wife Ayesha quarrelled over domestic issue and Adnan threw some hard object on his wife which rather hit 45-day-old Zohra’s head as a result she died instantly. Police have arrested accused Adnan who claimed that his daughter died due to illness.
