House panel announced to propose steps to curb fake news

KARACH: The treasury on Tuesday announced the formation of a seven-member parliamentary committee to propose measures to curb fake news and disinformation.

Speaking on the occasion, Sindh Parliamentary Affairs Minister Zia-ul-Hasan Lanjar assured the house regarding inclusion of opposition members in the body.

Earlier on Monday, Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon had told the house that the province needed an authority with the power to take immediate action against any channel or person found spreading fake news. He called upon the lawmakers to legislate against fake news.
