QUETTA: Majlis Wahdat-i-Muslimeen’s provincial leader Allama Ali Hasnain Husaini, expressed concern on Sunday over the government’s response to peaceful sit-ins led by top opposition figures, warning that authorities would bear full responsibility if the protesters suffer any harm.

Mr Husaini described the blocking of access to food, water and essential medicines for Senate Opposition Leader Allama Raja Nasir Abbas Jafri and National Assembly Opposition Leader Mahmood Khan Achakzai as an “undemocratic and inhuman act”.

Speaking at a press conference, Mr Husaini said the delivery of basic necessities to the senior political leaders had been blocked for the past three days.

Mr Husaini specifically highlighted the health risks facing Raja Nasir Abbas Jafri. He emphasised that the Senate Opposition Leader is conducting a peaceful struggle while suffering from diabetes.

Calls blockage of supplies to protesting leaders a ‘inhuman act’

“Uninterrupted access to his medications is a basic human right,” Mr Husaini said. He warned that any harm resulting from these government restrictions would be the full responsibility of the authorities.

The provincial leader condemned the government’s behaviour in Islamabad as incompetent and vowed that nationwide protests against the government’s actions, including in Balochistan, would continue.

“History does not forgive oppressive rulers,” Mr Husaini said, adding that the current “inhumane measures would have consequences”. He was joined at the press conference by Allama Syed Hashim Mosavi, Younis Ali and Haji Altaf Hussain.
