NAWABSHAH: First Lady Aseefa Bhutto-Zardari on Friday inaugurated the ‘H.M. Khoja Flower Show & Science and Arts Exhibition’ in the city, reviving the event after a break of more than 10 years.

The event used to be held regularly at the H.M. Khoja Garden until a decade back to mark inception of spring. However, it could not be organised in the later years due to security threats.

This year, the three-day event has been revived with MNA Aseefa Bhutto-Zardari inaugurating it on the women-only day at a colourful ceremony surrounded by eye-catching flower arrangements in the garden as well as an exhibition of science models and art pieces.

She was accompanied by Sindh Health Minister Dr Azra Pechuho.

Since the inaugural day was exclusively for women, no male adults were allowed in.

Special arrangements were made to ensure comfortable movement and stay of all visitors.

The second day is open to the general public while and the third and last day of the event has been dedicated to families only.

Besides display of floral arrangements, the event features a diverse array of stalls, displaying scientific models and cultural crafts, set up by participating government and private schools. There is a dedicated food court while a number of swings and other attractions are also there in the play area for children.

Students of schools are to present tableaux and other performances whereas a musical night to add a cultural flair to the event is also a major feature.

A large number of police personnel have been deployed to ensure safety and security of visitors. Media is, however, restricted from covering the programmes.
