101 couples get married under Dhi Rani programme

NAROWAL: One hundred and one new couples got married under the ‘Dhi Rani’ programme in a mass ceremony in Narowal on Sunday.

Among those who got married, 75 belonged to Muslims and 26 belonged to Christian families.

Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal, Provincial Minister for Social Welfare and Baitul Maal Sohail Shaukat Butt and Punjab Baitul Maal chief Khawaja Muhammad Waseem Butt attended the ceremony as special guests.

The newly married couples were given Rs200,000 each on the behalf of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. Addressing the ceremony, Ahsan Iqbal said the government had given Rs. 200,000 to newly married couples so that they could start their new life in a good way. He said the capitalist class of Punjab should take forward the “Dhee Rani” programme.

He said the ceremony included 75 Muslim and 26 Christian couples.

Sohail Shaukat Butt and Khawaja Muhammad Waseem Butt also spoke.
